The Integrated Manufacturing Systems (IMS) program combines Industrial Technology and Engineering Technology. Industrial Technology is primarily involved with management, operations, and maintenance of complex technical systems; Engineering Technology is involved with design and installation of these systems. One of the goals of the IMS program is to prepare professionals capable of managing projects and processes in industrial settings. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of understanding products, materials, processes, part design, tool design, process control, and quality that are some of the key components of project management.
The mission of the IMS sequence is to prepare technically-oriented managerial professionals and leaders for business, industry, government, and education by articulating and integrating student experiences and core competencies in manufacturing. The courses in the IMS sequence focus on the management of people, processes, and materials through application-oriented activities, thereby making our students well equipped to become project managers. Students in the IMS program learn by theory and practice, develop their skills and experience by working in modern facilities with some of the most recent instructional technology available, and gain access to professional networks and career building opportunities in the manufacturing industry.
Students graduating from the IMS program are highly sought after for leadership roles in regional and national manufacturing companies. Most students have found positions before graduation, and 99% of graduates have found positions within three months after graduation. Initial placement positions for IMS graduates include operations/supply chain management, project management, production management, product design, quality control support and technical sales.
