Engineering Technology
The Engineering Technology (ET) program prepares students to manage people, processes, and materials through application-oriented activities. As a result, students are well equipped to become project managers. ET graduates design new products using computer-aided design (CAD), design the tooling needed to fabricate new products using CAD, apply knowledge of quality control to improve production efficiency, manage quality systems programs in companies, establish contracts with clients to buy products or services from companies, coordinate new product development and the implementation of new production equipment, procure and implement capital equipment upgrades, troubleshoot production problems, and conduct management training programs covering all aspects of corporate operations as preparation for supervisory positions.
The following are a few examples of job titles from past graduates: applications engineer, quality manager, process engineer, product designer, product development engineer, production engineer/supervisor, project engineer, and technical sales engineer. ET majors work in various careers within corporations, government agencies and places of learning. Typical beginning salaries will range from approximately $40,000 to $55,000 per year.
